The following conversation took place yesterday morning, before school, while LG was brushing her teeth. I had walked into the kitchen from the hallway bathroom thinking I would get breakfast ready while she finished up.
LG called out: "mama, I don't want you to be somewhere else..."
Mom calling back: "Oh, I was just fixing your breakfast" (which, by the way, consisted of a cereal bar & pouring a sippy cup of milk to take with us in the car).
LG: "but, I'm lonely...I want you to be with me."
How precious...a grin appeared on my face as I thought 'it's so nice to be "wanted" as a mom'. I stopped pouring & went & sat on the toilet (with the lid closed, of course) & watched LG brush her teeth. She was so content & happy just to have me there. I remember as a child wanting my mom to always be with me - whether I was taking a bath, cleaning my room (ok, that didn't really happen much), watching tv, whatever, I just wanted mom to be with me. Don't you just know this is what our Heavenly Father desires of us...

Daddy of the Year
Yes, I have posted a few times about giving myself the MOTY award, but, tonight Chris gets the honor. I came home from a CCS meeting to find everyone happy & playing. Chris & I were catching up on our day before he left to go to a meeting...ok, not really - to play cards. Anyway, in the middle of our conversation, Lola Grace looks at me & says, "Mama, Mama, you know what happened when you were gone? Maddie James fell off the kitchen counter!!! Chris immediately looks at LG, like, thanks for throwing ME under the bus!!! I look at him & ask if LG's serious, and he says, apologetically "yeh." Of course, I couldn't say ANYTHING, because I knew from experience how TERRIBLE he felt about her falling. Thank you, Lord, once again, for "cushioning" MJ's fall!

Baby MJ is Walking
MJ decided to start walking while Daddy & I were in the mountains last weekend. I'm sure Honey & Papa didn't have her practicing or anything!!! She had been taking "steps" and now she is really WALKING! We are so proud of you, sweet MJ! I love the fact that you still "crab-crawl!" You and LG bring us such joy...
I've got my party shoes on...Oh, wait...Praise the Lord!
I LOVE some goldfish!
Mama, why are you STILL taking pics of me?
Enough performing...I'm crab-crawlin' my way outa here!

Where's Daddy?
LG (about 4 pm): "Mama, where's Daddy?"
Mom: "He's at work."
LG: "He sure does work alot."
Mom: "Yeh, he does...he works so we can eat, have clothes, so you can go to school..."
LG: "But, I already have money to go to school."
Mom (hoping LG has found "hidden treasure" in our backyard): "Oh, you, do? Where?"
LG: "Remember that DOLLAR that I have?"
Mom: "Oh, yeh...hmmmm."
Mom: "He's at work."

Wade Haaaampton Member-Guest...Tic Tac?
Chris & I enjoyed a wonderful long weekend in Cashiers for yet another golf tournament (Honey & Papa kept the girls-thanks!). The guys left Wed. morning & the girls Thurs. afternoon - did I mention we didn't have directions? Thanks to the guy at the bottom of the mtn. at the gas station, oh, wait, it wasn't directions we asked him for...anyhow, we made it.
Thursday night we enjoyed a wonderful dinner at W.H. - all of the food was truly unbelievable...throughout the weekend, we had shrimp, crab salad (my fav), lobster, filet, turkey/brie wrap, sweet pot. chips, keylime pie, just to name a few. Oh, and let's not forget that Chris & Sandy had to throw in some chicken fingers & subway!
Here are a few of our memories:
R's comment to Chris at dinner, neck massage, mtn. top dinner - who was I looking at?, stress release: widen your vision & relax your jaw, couch discussions while t.v. volume suddenly getting louder & louder, changing leaves, early morning hallway shinanigans..."hello, can anybody hear us?", The Princess & the Pea, naps, golf, 24 hour rule, eating, "special" Sandy candy corn & I don't care, you made the shoot-out...oh, wait...nevermind, you didn't, Mr. Happy D., Chris trying to incorporate "hump" day for '09, Sandy witnessing my temper tantrum..."Come on Hope, EVERYBODY is ready...it's TIME TO GO!", hide the golf ball game & more napping & eating.
Thanks to Sandy & Christian for a wonderful weekend!

Our Little Escape Artist
The weather has been so nice & cool lately that I have loved opening the doors & windows. The only issue with this is MJ LOVES crawling out...so, after telling her "no" & seeing that that was not going to do the trick, I put a chair in the opening. Thinking I was SO smart, I went about my business & all of the sudden looked out back & this is what I saw...
Please notice the HUGE grin on her face...she was so proud of her "escaping" abilities! So, you know I had to smile & bring her back inside to get a picture of how she escaped.
Yeh, that pink blob is MJ almost to freedom...It's actually pretty impressive that she could manuver her way under that chair without getting stuck!
Georgia State Fair
Daddy is so excited - notice the thumbs up :-)
I think he may be having more fun that LG...
We took the girls to the Fair on Sunday - LG had an absolute blast! She just ran from ride to ride not wanting to miss out on any of the fun. Chris, of course, watched one of the "side" games & suckered himself into playing & of course WON...so we let LG pick out the prize & she left with a big pink unicorn, that until today, was not allowed inside the house...I still want to have it dry cleaned just for safety's sake - ha! Of course, they had a 29" woman that I tried to send LG to "case out" since she had a stamp, but everyone had to pay to see her - Chris wouldn't break a $20 for me to see her for $1- oh well, gives me something to go back for next year, right? Did anybody happen to see her - I want details. MJ couldn't ride anything and sweet thing just stayed in her stroller the WHOLE time - such a trooper!
