Projectile & Library Cards

The girls & I met Courtney & the boys at Chick today for lunch...I did not get the memo that this was the place to be for lunch - we saw Julie & kids, Natalie & kids, Jess D. & kids & Nay-Nay. I gave MJ a couple of fries to "chew" on & I should have known better - as I reached in her mouth...ok...DOWN HER THROAT to retrieve a piece of fry she PROJECTILE vomited & no I am NOT exaggerating (Courtney's my witness)! Of course, there was an innocent bystander, sitting right in view of all of this, who happened to look up at the SPLIT second that it happened, & unfortunately witnessed the whole thing. I looked up in time to see the expression on her face & all I could say was, "I'm so sorry you had to see that!" She is probably scarred for life - oh, well, we tend to have that effect on people - ha! Meanwhile, MJ was perfectly content with a BIG grin on her face.

We then headed to the library (Tom Hill) to get some books on LG's Pre-K reading list...Pre-K reading list??? I didn't even know that existed!? Well, it does. Anyhow, I went to check out & told the lady I didn't have a library card. She looked at me as if I was an illegal immigrant or something and said, "Did you just move to the state of Georgia?" My answer, "Oh, no mam, I just don't have a library card." I couldn't bring myself to admit that I've lived in GA for 32 YEARS. She still looked a little puzzled and so I said, "Do I need a card from another library to check out at this one?" Not that I had that either. Suddenly she realized I seriously DON'T have a library card. I felt like I was coming out of the closet as a "non-library" card holder!!! So humiliating! I have always been intimidated by libraries - you have to be quiet, I get confused, it's hard to FIND the books...such pressure, etc! But, all is well, they were extremely helpful & nice & we left with many books AND I NOW HAVE A LIBRARY CARD!

Good Times

Happy 28 Shannon!
Love the pants, George
Friday night we all enjoyed a great bday dinner for Shannon at Marco's then made our way downtown to the Capital Theater to hear Tron Jackson...Shannon got on stage & sang with the band - so fun! I looked on stage & saw my cousin playing guitar along with George so we enjoyed being "groupies" for the night.

We headed to the Butler's last night for a little cookout with the Bergs & Vernons. On the way over, LG was talking about something and said, "I'm so smart I scare myself". Of course, Chris and I thought this was hilarious and laughed. Our laughing doesn't go over so well with her right now b/c she thinks we are laughing AT her & doesn't get the fact that it's ok if people think you are funny...she will say, "stop laughing at me, I'm not funny"...oh, well, hopefully eventually she will get it. After all, I did get "class most funny" my senior year in highschool - yes, that's my ONLY claim to fame ever - pretty pathetic. We won't get into my FPD track memories. No, we won't. I will just say that I am definitely NOT known for my athletic abilities.

Lazy Saturday

LG & Daddy enjoying a relaxing Saturday morning

The four of us enjoyed a little ihcc breakfast with James & Molly & once home it was time for a rest - This is what I found when I went in LG's room.

Friends

Kate & MJ

Day Camp

Campers & Counselors

LG went to Day Camp this week...when I picked her up the first day she was so excited & said she loved it & had so much fun. She & her fellow campers enjoyed four days of golf, tennis, fitness, crafts & swimming (lunch & ice cream, too - that was a big hit). On Thursday, I said, "Tomorrow is your last day of camp" and she answered with "Yea!!!" I asked her if she didn't like camp anymore and she said, "I just get so sweaty & I don't like to be sweaty!" Oh, a girl after my own heart!

Bye, Bye Lamp

Well, here is what happens when your baby likes to play with CORDS!!! All of the sudden I heard a HUGE CRASH this morning...I ran to see what happened & this is what I found. MJ was crawling & got caught up in the lamp cord & it came crashing down. Of course, being the loving mother that I am, I saw that no one was hurt & then quickly RAN to get the camera...I could not pass up having this documented. And, yes, this was one of my favorite lamps that my mom didn't need anymore & gave to us within the last year...I'm glad MJ thought is was funny! PTL she was not hurt! Let's look at the bright side...this means I get to buy a new lamp, right?

Childhood Memory

The crickets sure are happy tonight...I love sitting inside at night and listening to the crickets outside...it takes me back to my childhood. Running around outside with my brother listening to the crickets, catching lightening bugs & getting all sweaty after we had already taken a bath for the night. Mom calling us to tell us it's time to come in and get ready for bed...

Week In Paradise

We send a HUGE thanks to Doc & Cha-Cha for the Destin 08' trip...we LOVED 803 and had another week of beautiful views! The Lord blessed us with GORGEOUS weather and a great breeze! We look forward to this family trip each year...only 363 more days until Destin 09'! WOOOOHOOOOO!

Saturday - Arrival

I love this place - - Look what I found, mama

"Crashing" a beach wedding from our balcony

We arrived around 5:30 pm and "cased out" our condo...it was awesome! There was a wedding on the beach, too. How fun to watch from our balcony. We met at D & C-C's condo for Merlins pizza & LG & Wilson's 1/2 bday parties...any chance C-C gets to celebrate something, she jumps on it & we love her for that! Of course, it would not be acceptable if we didn't start the trip off with losing a condo key, so D & C-C took care of that for everyone...glad it was them and not us-ha!

Sunday - Engagement Cruise

Happy F.D...nice shirt, Doc

Children under 12 need to be chaperoned at ALL times...Whoops!

MJ's 1st orange slice - - B & LG are all smiles

3 hour boat ride is almost up - - wait, more dancing!

Happy Father's Day! After a day at the beach we headed to Baytowne Wharf for Bill & Tyler's "Engagement Cruise". The kids had a blast on the ship & the parents enjoyed drinking a few "stress relievers"; yes, that was the actual name and yes, it worked-ha! Daddy danced with LG & they really had some great moves! The entertainer said that Chris had the best moves that he had seen in his 4 years of working on this boat - oh, yea, baby! You know Chris, he kept that boat rocking! We had a great dinner, the scenery was beautiful and we enjoyed some champagne & cake to end the "cruise". We then found another band at B.W. as we were headed back and so, of course, we stopped and graced everyone there with our spectacular moves as well...so fun!

Monday - Louisianna Lagnappe

The EMPTY pool

OK, so we ALL know that Chris had to work in a golf round which is ok b/c he does this every year. But, this year was a little different...he & Brian left at 7 am and didn't return until after 3 pm - let's be honest, oh yeah, you know I was LIVID! The fact that someone POOPED in the pool (therefore, it was CLOSED all day) did not help, so I was in our condo with the girls for 8 HOURS b/c I didn't want to take both of them to the beach alone and Chris had the car so we couldn't go anywhere. He said he would be home around 1 pm so around 1:30 I called his cell phone to check on his e.t.a. and NOTHING...it goes automatically to voicemail! Oh, boy, now I'm REALLY steaming (My heart rate is increasing as I type this...so absurd)! I am out on the balcony as he comes bee-boppin' in - "Hey, Babe...did ya'll have a good day?" He takes one look at my face & realizes that was NOT the question he should have asked me. I snap back with, "I thought you were going to be home around 1:00???" He quickly looks at his watch & realizes that this discussion is going to be NO GOOD! My part went a little somethin' like this, "You SAID you would be home around 1:00 & you get home AFTER 3:00, I called your phone & it wasn't even on, I have been in this condo for 8 HOURS straight with the girls, someone pooped in the pool (like that's his fault), you had the car so we couldn't go anywhere & you didn't even call me to let me know that you would be 2 hours late?...Did you even THINK to call me & let me know????" (I am laughing as I type this & relive it in my mind!) Pour guy didn't even know what had hit him at this point! He did a little explaining, apologizing & we moved on b/c we were due at dinner with the family in about 2 hours & had to get everyone ready...

LG stayed with J, B, L & KS back at the condos (including an oreo eating contest) & we took W & MJ with the adults to dinner...we LOVE some Louisianna Lagnappe! The memory of the night was Dave telling his many "QUIET" stories...so quiet no one in the restaurant looked at our table the whole evening...yea, right! B & S are working on having their own condo next year (hee, hee) so they left early with W while we all stayed for some dessert. Despite a questionable start (due to the earlier golfing 'issues'), it turned out to be an enjoyable evening...I can always count on Dave to lift my spirits (& Chris for that matter)! Thanks Doc & Cha-Cha for a great dinner! Love you, Babe! And, yes, I forgive you.

Tuesday - 2 am

Playing in the waves - - MJ loves Josh

Look at that clear water! MJ fell asleep in the ocean.

Rested & ready for the pool

Another gorgeous beach day...we ate dinner in tonight so we went to the pool late in the afternoon with the girls...so relaxing! Chris & I stayed up until midnight watching movies & when we turned off the tv the crew above us were having a really strong party so we were entertained by them for a while!

Wednesday - "Guy Love"

Tonight was "date night" - thanks to D & C-C! We enjoyed some of Dave's famous homemade peach daq's & headed to Bonefish for a delicious dinner where we shared MANY laughs! From our visit to Bonefish in Macon I thought the apple martini was the best but I stand corrected (thanks, Alexis) my new fav is the pomegranate...yummy! We then headed to Marble Slab b/c Chris wanted some icecream, waited in the HUGE line, then looked behind us & saw Johnny Rockets & decided to get a milkshake. Of course, we ALL got out of line & realized as we tried to open J.R.'s door that they had just CLOSED! Sooo, we headed back to D & C-C's to fill them in on our wonderful evening & ate desert at their place - again, thanks!

Kudo's to Chris for NOT standing up at Bonefish & sharing your own lyrics of "guy love!" What is this world coming to?

Thursday - Jack Hammer

There I go - made it back relieved with no shark sightings!

LG the Mermaid . . . . . Enjoying some "girl" time

Today Mommy went out in Dave's kayak for the first time. It was a little scary going out in that water all by myself in a little ol' kayak but I DID IT! Great experience once I got out there...boy is the ocean BIG! The kids buried each other in the sand and made muscle men & mermaids. We also met Jason Castro's (from American Idol) girlfriend - she was one of the beach servers & was an absolute doll...she said they have dated since highschool (just a little inside scoop). The girls & I enjoyed sitting at the waters edge and having the waves come "get" us. Just another day in paradise...

Friday - ALL DAY BEACH

Please don't make us leave...

My 1st cheeto. . . . catching a "ride" after dinner

We are usually a little depressed on Friday b/c it is our last day at the beach...we made an all day affair of it! MJ even had her 1st cheeto - anything to keep us from having to take her back to the condo for a nap - she was a trooper & took naps on the beach in her stroller. The beach chair guys had to come & basically take the chairs from out from under us to put them up for the day! That night we enjoyed another delicious dinner at Ruth's Chris & then headed to J & S to check out the condo they just bought...beautiful!

Saturday - It's REALLY over

Playing & Dancing...

MJ's beach routine...

Happy Girl...

Well, Saturday is the day we head home. Another summer of great Destin beach memories...thanks Doc & Cha-Cha for such an incredible trip. LG had her own room with a tv & she didn't quite know what to do with herself...cartoons galore! Floor to ceiling windows in each room with endless views of the beach & ocean. Sleeping with our balcony door opened at night & falling asleep listening to the waves. Unbelievable moons. Breeze. Thanks to KS for all of her babysitting, too! Until next summer...

Bonefish with the Burgesses

We had a delicious dinner with friends tonight at a new restaurant in town...preface--the girls & I went to the pool this afternoon and came home just as a storm was brewing. Before we knew it, yep, you guessed it - NO ELECTRICITY! MJ was asleep & LG & I were "resting" in my bed - I don't think that's really possible with a 4 1/2 year old. Anyway, our babysitter for the evening received last minute tickets to the Tim McGraw concert & so she got a replacement (whom we had never met). Meanwhile, I need to take a shower & get ready, but again, we have NO electricity. I ended up drying & straightening my hair at the B's house, Chris brought the NEW babysitter to the B's house to babysit OUR kids (can't do much babysitting without electricity either), and off to Bonefish we went - as I put makeup on in the car so we could make our reservation! It was packed but since we had reservations we were seated quickly. The food was delicious, the sour apple martinis were divine & the air was HOT! When it came time to pay the bill, Chris proceeded to put his KROGER PLUS card in the black thing that the server brought to the table...we all thought this was REALLY funny - may have been the martinis? We saw her talking to the manager & then she returned to our table and said, "Sir, we don't take this." We all started laughing and Chris apologized if he caused her any stress - hee, hee. Hopefully we brightened her night?! Chris left her a good tip for putting up with our shenanigins (never spelled that word before).

Heaven

LG has been very curious about Heaven lately & has asked several times, "Mama, how do you get to Heaven?" I have simply told her to ask God to forgive her sins & invite Jesus into her heart to be her Savior. That's alot for some adults to swallow, much less a 4 year old! So today, she brings the Heaven question up again, and I give her my same answer. She responds with, "Well, mama, I prayed & asked Jesus to take me to Heaven & He didn't take me?" (How sweet is that? Thank you, Lord, for NOT taking her YET). Now, I'm really pondering what to tell her, so I answer with, "well, you won't go to Heaven until you die." And she comes right back with, "but Mama, how am I going to ask Jesus to take me to Heaven if I'm dead?" I can just see those wheels turning! I explained to her that this is the reason why we need to ask Jesus to be our Savior while we are alive, so when we die, we will go to Heaven...ok, now I'm exhausted but so blessed that I have been given the opportunity to talk to LG about this...it is truly amazing to me the discussions that we can have with our children! LG, I pray that you accept Christ as your Savior at an early age & I praise God for placing this desire in your heart. I love you!

100 Degree Weather

The girls joined me for a trip to the dermatologist this morning followed by a visit to Papa's office. Papa sure does love you, two! Of course, once we were home, LG immediately went to her room & changed into the outfit below. Nothing like wearing socks, a long-sleeved pj shirt, pj pants & her favorite "snow" hat in 100 degree weather!

"Sister" Bond

It puts a smile on my face to see MJ watch LG...at home, no matter what MJ is doing, if LG walks in the room, MJ will stop eating, playing, crawling, whatever, look at LG, & a HUGE grin appears on her face! When MJ cries, LG will sing to her to try & calm her down, bring her a toy, or tell me what she thinks I need to do - "Mama, I think she's hungry, needs her diaper changed, is sleepy, etc." If that doesn't work, LG says, "Mama, I DON'T LIKE THAT CRYING, DO YOU?!"

It makes my heart happy to see the bond that you already have as sisters...everyone told me while I was pregnant that it would be so special for you, LG, to have a sister and now I can see why. Lord, I pray that you will continue to strengthen their bond as sisters & may they always both look to You for guidance. I love you, LG & MJ!

But I'm Only 4 Years Old

LG & I went shopping at Kroger tonight & came home with icecream, chocolate syrup & a FULL bottle of sprinkles (LG's favorite). Below is LG's conversation with Daddy while making her icecream sundae:

LG (excitedly): "Daddy, PPLLLEEEAAASSEEEE let me put the sprinkles on my icecream, ok?????
D: "OK, but BE CAREFUL pouring the sprinkles out..."
LG: "I know, Daddy, I can do it."
D: "LLLLGGGG, that's too much...nnnnoooooo" (as she proceeds to take the top off & DUMP more than half the bottle onto her icecream).
LG: "But Daddy, I'm only 4 years old, & 4 year olds can't do this". Then she looks at me and proceeds with, "Mama, we got the wrong kind of sprinkles...these don't have the holes on the top so they won't all come out" (she means the top of the bottle so all the sprinkles won't DUMP OUT).
Nothing like a little "extra sprinkles" sugar high before bedtime! We Love You, LG!
