"Bamnit"

On the way home from picking LG up from school today, MJ asked if she was going to a birthday party (LG is going to one on Friday).  I told MJ no, and she responded with, "bamnit (that's damnit to the layperson), of course I'm not"!  I asked MJ what she said & she replied, "bamnit".  Yes, I laughed.  LG said, "mama, I think she really said damnit?  Isn't that a bad word?  Why are you laughing, mama"?

June

Well the garage has been transformed into a playroom/daddy room.  The girls love having a room for their toys & Daddy loves having a room to entertain friends!  Thank you, Lord for making this happen!

DESTIN 2012

Sat - we arrived around 11:30 pm destin time.  Daddy finished the ihcc MG, came home & packed & we headed to Florida.  We stayed in St. Martin 1401 - amazing condo, even had a separate steam room!

Sun - double red flag, beach time, rain, pool time with uncle dave.  Enjoyed dinner at Louisianna Langiappe for chautifula-cha's bday.

Mon - double red again, beach, collect shells, sunny, lunch in condo, beach, pool with Wilson, playground, Moes /Wendys for dinner - I ate my dinner on the balcony overlooking the ocean...be
Tue - beach, pool, dave's destin dirtnap, cw cell wet, alvins with girls to pick out game night prizes.  Datenight at Cantina Laredo...cw kept talking about cats & meowing.  We then went for icecream for dessert.  Many lau beachgs! beach, lunch from sandbar in condo, mj meltdown which led to first nap of the trip, back to the beach.

Wed - cw headed to verizon for new phone, when back we all headed to the beach.  I asked cw if he wanted a ziploc bag for his phone and he said no.  His phone got wet at the beach yesterday & died.  LG wouldn't let him leave the condo without putting his phone in a ziploc :).  We ordered lunch from the sandbar & quickly took it to our condo...MJ was having a meltdown.  She took a 3 hour nap (1st nap of the trip) & then we joined LG & Daddy at the pool for a swim with Wilson.

Thurs - I hit the outlets at 10 am when they opened.  Went to Gap, Childrens Place & then Forever21.  On my way back I (of course) turned the wrong way & before I realized it I was entering the bridge to leave Destin.  Uggghhh!  I almost did a u-turn on the bridge but decided I would go ALL the way across the bridge & then I made a u-turn so I wouldn't have to go through the toll & pay.  Daddy & the girls enjoyed the morning at the beach and pool, then headed in for lunch and for Daddy to watchthe US Open.  We were going to have Cha-Cha's christmas picture taken of the grandkids, but, Alexis & Brynna got stuck in traffic from Seaside and it took them 3 hour round trip.  Meanwhile, Ty, Wilson & Brian were at our condo.  Ty fell & busted his chin open.  Since Alexis wasn't back, Dave stepped in and brought all the medical supplies over.  Ty was such a champ!  The adults enjoyed a delicious dinner at Ruths Chris (Wilsons' 46th anniversary/Fathers day) while all the cousins stayed back at the condo.  There were many subway stories told, many laughs, & Doc made a toast that we are all blessed to live in the same city!  Cheers!

Fri - We layed around all morning...tv, naps, reading.  We enjoyed some lunch and then hit the beach for our last day.  MJ's swimmie hurt her eye so she and cw headed back to the condo for a break (& to watch US Open).  They later came back to the beach, the kids buried each other in the sand making mermaids, built sandcastles, played in the waves and had a ball together.  Daddy picked up Mellow Mushroom for dinner while we stayed & did laundry & stared packing up.  It is always a contest each year between us & Dave to see who will get back to Macon first.  Alexis said she was going to win this year (& she did)!  We went over to C&D's to thank them for the week & say our goodbyes.

Sat - CW wakes me up at 6:30 am with a "let's go"!  Seriously?  The car was already packed so we grabbed what was left & hit the road.

MJ said, "I'm gonna wiwy miss dis pwace cuz you know I have a tb in my womb but not at our house".
As we were waiting on Daddy & LG to come back from packing the car, she looked at me and said, "mama, my heart is pounding".  I asked her why and she said, "decuz I have so much wuv in it.  Mama, I wuv you.  I wuv being with my family".  Priceless.

On our way home we stopped at BK for breakfast, yes, I was shocked that cw "allowed" this since we were in a competition.  He ordered one biscuit and went to order more and they said he had just ordered the LAST biscuit & it would take 6 minutes for the new ones...seriously?  He cancelled the order (not sure that BK heard the cancel) and we went across the street to McD.  He ordered successfully and as were are pulling out MJ said her tummy hurt & she needed to throw up.  Soooo, as all great moms do, I handed her a plastic bag, she threw up like a champ and we were on our way to Macon.  Never a dull moment.  I sure do LOVE my family!

Update:  Cha-Cha told cw that D&A want to stay in their same condo next year (A doesn't like being on high floor), B&S don't want our condo, & C&D don't want it b/c it only has one room overlooking ocean, sooooo, the condo is ours for next year - woohoo!

May 2012

For Mother's Day weekend we went to Tybee for the Wilmington Member Guest.  We sayed at the Cable's house with Pac & Jason.  We had a ball.  Dad went outside one night to take sissy-kitty to the bathroom on a rope.  Next thing we know Dad came in with his head pouring blood.  It had been raining & he had slipped, fallen & busted the back of his head open.  Long story short, Chris & Honey took Dad to the Med clinic while I stayed home with the girls (Pac & Jason arrived the next day).  Dad ended up with 10 staples in the back of his head!  And yes, he went on to play the entire tournamnet!  Mom & I took the girls to the back river.  We walked down to our new house and set up shop & they had a ball!  They found a ton of clams & played, played & played!  Grandadday & Kay took the girls to h & then brought them back to their house for a tea party.  The girls had a blast.

May 24th Mom was in Savannah closing on the Tybee house while I was in Atlanta having my LASIK consultation.  Friday Mom drove me to Atlanta.  We checked into the Hampton Inn, hit Maggiono's for a fantastic lunch, went back to the hotel to put our leftovers in the frig & then headed to my appointment.  Somehow how got turned around & got a little lost. Mom had to make an emergency visit to the cheesecake bakery, but, we made it on time.  Dr. Kozarsky & his staff were so nice & accomodating.  They gave me a valium upon arrival & the entire procedure took about 15 minutes.  They had told me to bring a sweatshirt because tye OR is cold.

School is out!  LG has completed the 2nd grade & MJ 3k.  Both of them had a terrific year.  MJ did not think that she could cut with scissors very well so she just decided she wouldn't cut at school.  Once we found out, Daddy explained to her that she still needed to obey her teachers and try her best.  She was cutting within a week and loving it!  Way to go, MJ!  MJ loved 3k, but, she loved staying home with mama more.  She went Mon., Wed. & Fri.  Mrs. Dana & Mrs. MB think her transition to 5 days in August will be a little tough, but, we all know she will do fine.  LG was voted by her classmates for the "best sportsmanship" award --way to go LG!

April

We have started construction on enclosing our garage.  We are all so excited!  They are moving very quickly.  We decided to autograph the subfloor before they put the hardwood down.  We also chose some of our favorite Bible verses & wrote the references on the subfloor.  Jeremiah 29:11 is right when you enter the new back door.  Matthew 6:19, 20 is in front of where the tv will be.  LG wrote out 1 Timothy 4:12 all by herself - priceless.  She also "signed" Milkshakes' name.  MJ drew a rainbow & a picture of herself along with her autograph of "JM" - this is how she currently writes her name.  We wrote John 3:16 on the wall under where the tv will be & 1 Thessalonians 5:11,16-18; Colossians 3:12-13 & Galations 5:22-23 are in the corners of the room.  Thank you Lord for this new space in our house!

Daddy is taking a test to get certified to also sell life & health insurarance to his clients.  He spent a week in Atlanta going to class from 8am-6pm!  We are so proud of him!

April

Easter Sunday - 7:30 pm, LG came in my room & said, "Mama, I think this is the funnest day I've ever had with MJ"!  Made my heart melt.  LG & MJ - I hope you will always appreciate & cherish your relationship as sisters.  Daddy & I love watching MJ want to be like LG & LG protecting/taking care of MJ.  Daddy & I are so thankful for each of you & grateful that God chose us to be your parents while on earth.  We are forever grateful that God sent His only Son, Jesus, to die a painful death on a cross, was buried & raised from the dead for all who choose to believe in Him, repent of their sins & ask Him to be their Savior.  Praise be to God that He gives each of us a choice to spend eternity with Him & fellow belivers!  We love you both, sweet girls!

MJ announced today that when she grows up she is going to be "a mama, a dentist, a princess & a bunny".

April

We enjoyed a nice and relaxing spring break at home.  It was so nice not to pack up and go anywhere.  We went to swim at the Vernon's pool (they were out of town & offered their pool to us), we went to lunch with H & P at Mia's (formerly Shelly's), we baked sticky buns from scratch one morning.  Granddaddy and Kay arrived Thursday for a long Easter weekend.  We enjoyed dinner at Shaw's with them.  They came to NMPC to watch the Easter Egg hunt that the girls participated in.  H cooked a birthday dinner for Kay and we celebrated on Saturday night.  LG had made a bday card for Kay thatbshe showed me while we were at home.  The front read, "Happy Birthday Kay".  Inside it read, "Roses are red, Violets are blue, even though your old, i think you are our cool too".  I told LG it was great but she might want to make another one and not say she is old in it.  Next thing i know, we're at H&P's, Kay is opening gifts & before i knew it LG had given her the "special" card that she had made for her.  I looked on in horror as Kay proceeded to read the card aloud!  We all died laughing and LG wasn't quite sure what was so funny.  Kay handled it like a charm & was so sweet to LG.  We are so blessed to have Kay as part of our family know!  The girls absolutely love spending time with her & gdaddy, talking, snuggling, sitting in laps, etc.  I love that our girls are getting to experience having great-grandparents!  What an answer to prayer that my mom & her dad have the relationship that they currently have-  Thank you Lord!  We enjoyed Easter lunch at IHCC with the family & then came home for an Easter Egg hunt in the front yard.

MJ told me that she wishes we had a dog with BIG nipples, a LONG tail and a cute whittle (little) nose.  When I asked why she wanted the dog to have big nipples, her response, was, "decause big nipples are just so cute, mama"!  I had no response...

March

Well, welcome to the month of Selfish Saturday!  CW enjoyed his day...it was supposed to rain ALL day, but, as the Lord would have it, it held off.

We also made our last trip to Tybee for our last stay at 1405A Jones Avenue.  We enjoyed St. Patricks Day.  We met the Cables/Churchwells at the parade and Payton and I had a small verbal fight with some bystanders...it was priceless.  Oh, and on the way to town, MJ threw up in the car - I took one of our St. Paddy's hats and let her do her thing. Once she was done, we hopped out of the car and made our way to the parade.

We were thrilled to find out that a pic of LG was chosen for the cover of the FPD magazine...not to brag, but we were told that it will be delivered to over 7,000 households!  When LG found out she said, "Mama, does this mean I'm popular"?  I didnt't want her to think that being on a magazine cover would make her popular, so, I said, "LG, you're already popular".  She said, "but does this make me REAL popular"?

February

LG participated in the FPD Talent Show!  She sang Don't Stop Believin on stage all by herself (This is the same song that Daddy and I sang in the MCC show).  CW totally took this on & they practiced in the mornings on the way to school.  We were SO proud of her!  She wore her sparkly floor length gold dress and even had some dance moves to go along with the song.  We got their super early so we could sit on the front row & we enjoyed every minute of it.  Uncle Pi even took off of work to come watch!  Way to go, LG!

We welcomed a new addition to our family on Sunday, February 12th...Milkshake!  We adopted her from PetSmart.  LG has been dying for a dog ever since we had to find another home for Wiggles.  We finally gave in and decided to adopt.  We went to PetSmart 2 or 3 times and once she saw "Milkshake" formerly known as "Tammy Faye" she fell in love.  Milk is the best dog ever and a perfect fit for our family!  She is about 4 years old, weighs about 24 pounds, loves to cuddle and sleeps with LG most nights.  Thank you Lord for providing this sweet girl to us!

I spoke at my Garden Club meeting about CCS and told my adoption story.  This was a great opportunity for me...it's one thing to talk in front of acquantices/strangers and another to talk in front of my peers.  Thank you Lord for giving me the courage.  Everyone said they enjoyed hearing my story (lots of tears) and I was able to familiarize the group with CCS.  Most girls brought diapers and/or onesies to donate to CCS, too.

Mom and I headed to Tybee for a girls weekend on the 23rd.  We had enjoyed breakfast on Saturday morning and I came home to about 5 missed calls on my cell from CW.  I immediately called him back and he told me we had been robbed!  What?!?  I said, "are you kidding me?  seriously?"  His response was, "YES, I'm serious!!!  Do you think I would make this up?!?"  He was just slightly stressed out.  He came home to an open back door and thought he had mistakenly left it open.  Once he walked through the living room, he took one look at the wall saw that the flatscreen was missing from the wall and realized we had been robbed!  The girls were frantically calling for Milkshake & they eventually found her in our room on the bed...poor baby!  If dogs could talk, right?  They took my laptop (from MY bedside table), CW's ipod, my rainboots and a bathing suit bottom from Target with the tag still on it!  Yes, I went to Target with my receipt and had them scan it to see if they could tell if the bottom had been returned...no such luck.  The police came and tested for finger prints and basically all that did was make a huge mess.  While I was on the phone with CW I heard LG come through the kitchen and say, "Well, Daddy, atleast the robbers didn't take our gumball machine, right!?!"  Oh how I love the minds of children.  We were extremely thankful that nobody was home (forgot to say, CW had taken the girls, along with MB to IHCC for breakfast) and that they only took a few things.  After all, it is just stuff.  My heart breaks for all the pictures I lost that were stored on my laptop, though!!!  I sent an email to myself (wasn't sure if my emial account was "up" when they took my laptop) and said I had misplaced my laptop and if anyone knew where it was to please contact me and return it...it was worth a try...no response, ha!  Come to find out these "people" are rampant in Macon right now, kicking back doors in left and right stealing any electronics you have.  They have even switched the liscense plates on the cars so you can't track them.  A little positive news from the trip is that Mom came back to Macon with contracts for BOTH beach houses.  Granddaddy and Kay bought 1311 and someone that lives in Atlanta, but grew up in Macon (a former Kerningan) bought 1405.  Thank you Lord!  We look forward to the next house that you have for us.

The girls and I made cupcakes for Papa's traditional birthday surprise and delivered them to him at his office after we picked LG up from school.  The girls LOVE doing this!  They take the tray of cupcakes in to Papa, we take a picture, everyone eats a cupcake or two and then we walk around the office sharing Papa's cupcakes with whomever wants one!

January

2012 has started off well!  We have closed on selling our Athens ASP franchise...thank you, Lord for sending us a buyer!

MCC practice is off to a good start.  This is my first year singing backup & I'm really enjoying it.  CW & I are singing in the same song & then he's singing some other songs, too.

MJ: "Mama, my ears are not turned on and they won't turn on until I get to school, otay"?
(One morning while getting ready for school)

Jan. 22 - Hunter asked me to speak to NMPC for Sanctity of Human Life Sunday.  I did not want to as this is out of my comfort zone, but, felt like I did not want to miss this opportunity God was giving me to share my story.  I was SO nervous, voice shaking, hands shaking, head shaking, basically my whole body was shaking, BUT, I did it and God walked me through it.  It was neat looking into the audience and seeing LG watch me.  When I was done she had a huge grin on her face and had her hands ready to clap!  So sweet. I'm glad I did it!  Thank you, Lord.

The girls were playing outside having a ball. It was nice out so I had the doors open to enjoy the fresh air. They came to get me to show me what they were playing--they took lots of small toys outside & sat on top of my car, MJ on the hood; LG on the roof, and had the best time helping each other climb onto & off of the car. While I walked throught the living room a bird caught my attention. Apparently the bird had taken advantage of the open doors. I told the girls & said we needed to be very quiet & still and think of a way to help the bird go back outside. LG immediately went to her room and cahnged into her old bluebird ballet costume (age 4) and asked me if she "acted" like a bird, maybe the bird would follow her. By this point, the bird had somehow made it's way into the laundry room where there is a door to the backyard. We closed the door to the laundry room and opened the door to the yard & LG stood outside chirping & flapping her "wings" while MJ held the door open. The bird flew right out...priceless.

MJ came into my room late one night and asked me if that was me or Dace crying? I muted the tv & heard what she was talking about. I made my way to LG's room & asked her what was wrong? She told me she had a bad dream, we talked through it & I did my best to comfort her. By this point, MJ had made her way into LG's room and joined us on the bed and began comforting LG too. We were both rubbing her back telling her how much we love her and that we were sorry she had such a terrible dream. Daddy arrived home from MCC practice & joined us, too! LG asked if MJ could sleep with her & of course we agreed. I sure do love you girls. We are so blessed to be a family. I love the fact that you care so deeply about each other and hope that you will always have a special bond that only sisters can have. Mama loves you.

We enjoyed a family night/game night on Friday. The girls chose to eat dinner at Moe's and then we came home and played the Princess game, HiHo Cheerio, & the Hungry Catepillar game. While at Moe's, MJ was picking up some napkins off the floor and some how knocked some salsa off the table that landed in her eye! I thought she had just bumped her head on the table, but, when she looked up, it was obvious the salsa had "attacked" her. We made a brief trip outside, cleaned her up (and me by this point), shared some hugs & made our way back inside for dinner :). Other than the salsa escapade, we had a ball! Daddy (of course) won ALL three games!

Catching up from 2011

We had a great ending to 2011:

October:  We had the priviledge of "babysitting" for a CCS foster mom who had to go to work.  Oh, my...I have found my calling!  I went to CCS and picked "Melissa" up & brought her home.  I must admit, I was a little sad driving away, thinking, this baby has nobody (yet); she has no idea who I am or if I will take good care of her?  Made me thankful for my family.  Of course, Honey came over to meet her.  We fed her, changed her, loved her and basically just stared at her. Once I picked the girls up, they were thrilled! Of course they named her "Hello Kitty"!  They held her, fed her, changed her diaper, they even put her in their doll stroller - did I mention she was only 4 pounds?  MJ said, "Mama, where did she come from, Covenant Care"?  I answered, "Yes"!  She then said, "Oh, where you pay and get stuff like people"?  We made need to work on that answer a little, ha!  So thankful my girls had this opportunity at such a young age and we look forward to babysitting again.  Yes, I did get to see "Melissa" meet her parents for the first time...that was a very special adoption ceremony for me to attend.  So blessed to be involved with CCS - thank you, Lord for giving me the opportunity!

November:  We celebrated MJ's 3rd Birthday with breakfast at BK that also included a donut cake.  Her friends came in their pj's & even Honey wore her pj's!  We also celebrated with her 3K class at FPD & enjoyed a birthday dinner at El Sombrero with Honey, Papa & Unlce P - they came out & sang to mj & me & put sombreros on our head!

Cha-Cha told the girls that they have Cherokee blood and that they are part Indian princess (Doc's great grandmother was an indian princess).  A few weeks later, we were at FPD riding bikes on the track & LG crashed into the fence.  Her knee was bleeding and she would not stop crying.  Eventually she started saying, "I don't want to bleed anymore because I don't want to lose my Indian blood...I'm not going to be part Indian princess anymore"...she was devasted!  We explained to her that she still had the same amount of Indian blood that she originally did and that when she bleeds it not just the "cherokee" blood that comes out.  Love children's minds...

We have a new cleaning team!  Mrs. Jackie, Christopher & Ty.  (Now that MJ in school 3 days a week Mary was just cleaning for us (not keeping MJ), but, sent me a text saying she would no longer be able to clean because of her health).  Mrs. Jackie saw that our washer & dryer was old (um, yes, 16 years old in December - wedding gift from Carol & Mike!) & said she had a newer set that a client gave her & she didn't need it & wanted to know if we would like to have it?!?  Are you kidding?  YES & thank you!  What do I owe you?  Nothing...just pay us to install it.  Okay, deal!  After they installed it I asked what I owed & she said "nothing", it was there gift to us!  She told us to pay it forward...we have and will continue.  WOW...thank you, Lord!

Thanksgiving was delicious...we went to Honey & Papa's and stayed ALL day, eating, talking, girls played, eating some more, just enjoyed great family fellowship!

December:  We celebrated LG's 8th Birthday by surprising her with a trip (moms & kids; M-W) to Lake Oconee & the Gunns met us there!  We made a scavenger hunt for LG the morning we left & the last clue was in my car telling her to pack her bags!  She was thrilled and ran through the house...so cute!  Once we arrived, it was so sweet to see the kids reunite.  They hadn't seen each other since the Gunns moved to NC in August.  J & I had an absolute ball catching up!  We woke up on the 21st & celebrated by having a cookie cake for breakfast. Once back to Macon, we celebrated with a birthday dinner at LG's favorite...Moes!  Honey, Papa & Uncle P joined in the fun. Finally once school was back in session, we celebrated her birthday with her class in January!

I learned this month that I need to REALLY pay attention when I'm backing out of the garage (or anywhere for that matter).  I told CW I would take the girls to school (he normally takes them, so nice!) & we were running behind.  CW had exercised that morning & didn't pull all the way into the garage.  As I was pulling out, not looking behind me, of course, afterall, who looks behind them when they're backing up?!? I completely side-swiped CW's car. The 3 of us heard this horrific sound, & LG said, "Mama, I think you just hit Daddy's car"?  I rolled down her window & asked her to check it out..."Yep, you definitely hit it & it does NOT look good".  By this point CW had come out of the garage door looking in horror.  He said, "I KNEW I should have come out here & told you to watch out for my car!  I was sitting in our room having my QT & every fiber in my being was telling me to get up & tell you to watch out for my car; then I heard a REALLY loud sound & knew what had happened"!  He was of course disaapointed, but, was so kind in how he handled the situation.  He even blamed himself for not pulling all the way into the garage.  Seriously? It was completely my fault.  Just another reason why I love CW appreciate him being my rock.  On the way to school, LG sweetly said, "Mama, I think I have enough white paint to cover your car, but, I don't think I have enough silver to fix daddy's".  I love you, LG.

We celebrated Jesus' birthday by waking up & cleaning the house - yes, I'm serious!  The house was a wreck & CW took everything out of the living room, etc. & asked the girls to put it up & clean their rooms and THEN we celebrated Christmas.  Santa's reindeer had left a little mess from their reindeer food on the floor leading to the fireplace.  CW thought the girls had made the mess & almost blew a gasket.  I had to tell him that the reindeer made that mess!  Love you, CW.  CW made hot chocolate, we turned on Christmas music, opened gifts & enjoyed the morning. Santa did leave a note that we need to be on the look out for the perfect dog for our family since LG & MJ are dying for one!  We then headed to Honey & Papa's (Uncle P, too) for a delicious steak lunch and more celebrating & relaxing! We ended the day by celebrating at Cha-Cha & Doc's with Daddy's family.

New Year's Eve we took the girls to Shogun for dinner at 5:30.  They loved watching them cook our food, but, didn't really eat it, ha!  We were in bed by 8:30...Happy New Year!

January

MJ - "Mama, why do they call it a 'belly button' if it doesn't have a button in it"?

A note I received from a mom in LG's class - "Hope, I just wanted to tell you that Jordan repeatedly comes home from school saying how sweet & kind LG is to him.  As a mom that makes my hert all warm inside, and if it were my daughter I would want to know so I'm passing it along to you".

My 15 minute one-sided conversation with MJ..."Mama, watch this. Was that awesome? Watch, Mama. Was THAT awesome? Watch. Was that an awesome trick? Mama, watch me, ok? Was that awesome? Mama, watch this. I bet you will love this! Awesome? Now watch, Mama. Mama, you missin a part, watch. Ok, now you try it Mama.  I love you, MJ.

LG's comment to me tonight: "Mama, did you know that I'm famous"?  "You are? How are you famous"?  " Well you know my name is like on refrigerators, microwaves, tv's & remember that policeman we saw at S&S who had 'LG' tatooed on his arm"?!?  "Wow, yeh, you are famous"!  I can't burst her bubble quite yet.  I love you, LG.
