Cheese Please

While eating dinner (mac & cheese) tonight this conversation took place:
LG: "Mama, you know what? I'm just like a mouse...I LOVE cheese! I wanna eat cheese EVERY day until I'm full!"
M: "You might just turn into a piece of cheese."
LG: "With holes in it."
LG (after thinking a while): "But, Mama, that's just make believe (turning into cheese)...But, if you eat too much then you'll get sick & that's for real, right?"
M: "Yep, that's right."
LG: "Will you get sick in Heaven?"
M: "Nope!"
LG (big grin): "You won't? Heaven is going to be the BEST day of my life!"

Born Again

The girls & I were in the car & a song came on that talked about being born again...
LG: "Mama, what does born again mean?"
M: "Well, when you ask Jesus into your heart, that means that you're born again."
LG: "Am I gonna be a BABY again?"
M: "No, we have a physical body that we can see & a spirit that will go to Heaven if we invite Jesus into our heart...that's why it says born again, b/c our spirit is born again.
LG: "Oh, well, I've already done that (asked Jesus in my heart)"
M: "You did? When?"
LG: "A while ago..."

Well, we saw Miley at Tybee...she was filming her latest movie, "The last song", on the beach & we happened to be there at the same time...just as we had set everything up the beach police came around & told everyone we had to move b/c they were setting up to film. It was exciting to see LG & E's reaction when we pointed Miley out to them while she was filming...we look forward to watching the movie & looking for the beach scenes :) My mom also told me that the back river house that they filmed in is her aunt's family's house...pretty neat!

Well, we had a wonderful week at Kanuga! Chris equates it with the movie Dirty Dancing...he's not far off. The rooms have no phone, tv or AC...they do give you a fan, though :) You have to really unwind & get in "Kangua" mode.

SATURDAY - we got lost in Greenville on our way to Hendersonville. Oh, no worries...it only added AN HOUR to our trip & we MISSED our Kanuga dinner & ate at a gross Wendy's, but, we eventually made it! LG was so excited to see her friends from last year, B & C...what a cute reunion they had. B asked LG is she had forgotten her name :)

SUNDAY - there are no programs on Sunday, so, the girls had fun at the lake & MJ slept most of the day (she didn't get a nap yesterday, so she caught up today). LG took her swim test & once again scored a green bracelet - way to go!

MONDAY - Let the games begin...after an 8 am breakfast, we took MJ to the nursery & LG to camp. Mama headed to art class & Daddy napped. We all met up at 12:30 for lunch, followed by afternoon naps - except LG, she headed back to camp from 2-5. Dinner was served at 6:30 & then we headed to the lake & saw Al Jr. the turtle - he was HUGE. The kids took bread to him & fed the other turtles & fish. At 8 pm, we enjoyed a little outdoor squaredancing...the kids had a blast!

TUESDAY - Uncle Pi arrived today. He brought LG's fishing rod & they went fishing.

WEDNESDAY - Tonight we had the carnival after dinner...LG had her face painted & MJ sat in the dunking booth chair - I couldn't believe Daddy did that...a little girl came let MJ sit in her lap in the chair.

THURSDAY - Honey & Papa went on the rafting trip today...they said it was great & that we all need to go next year! LG's counselor told me that she was proposed to at camp today...

LG: "I like you"

D: "I like you, too"

LG: "I love you"

D: "I love you, too...will you marry me?"

LG: "Ewwww...well, ok. How many babies do you want?"

Just remember, Honey & Papa met at Kanuga in 1962, so, you never know what the future holds.

FRIDAY - The guys headed out early this morning for another round of golf. LG had her fun run race at 11:45 - yes, she ran in a dress (choose your battles, right?). As each child passed the finish line they were handed a frisbee that said, "Everyone's a winner!" LG asked me what it said & when I told her she said, "that's not fair...there's supposed to be one winner." Hilarious...is she her daddy's girl or what?! Tonight we had Friday Night Follies...LG & B got up on stage with their camp group & did a pirate song & then later in the show the two of them went back on stage & told two jokes (chicken cross road & banana knock, knock) - we were so proud of them for doing that in front of such a big audience (once again, like Dirty Dancing). Papa even went up & played some Bluegrass on his guitar - of course, he was amazing & got a roomful of whistles & applause!

Well, well, well...Chris & Richard made it to the shoot-out & were the MG '09 Champions! What an exciting day - Papa & Uncle Pi made it to the shoot-out, too & came in 4th place. I rode in the cart and cheered on all my boys!

Destin '09

Saturday

Well we were all so excited to arrive at Destin...we enjoyed "pizza night" at D & C's condo.

Sunday

Spent the day at the beach & pool. MJ jumped into the pool to us - we had to help her "jump" a little. We also threw (gently, of course) her back & forth to each other...she loved it! We also found out that MJ would have stayed in the outside shower the whole week if we would have let her.

We experienced the scare of our life at the beach today...Chris looked up & said, "where's LG?" I quickly scanned the ocean & saw NOTHING to put my heart at ease. I was reminding myself NOT to panic & take deep breaths. I kept looking into the vastness of the ocean & not seeing her. My heart was pounding. Aunt A ran to the pool, while Daddy & I continued looking on the beach. It was such a helpless feeling...I kept praying, "Lord, just please let us find her!" Random strangers were asking us what was wrong & helping us look. Meanwhile, of course, I have MJ that I'm trying not to lose, too, while looking for LG. Chris had walked down the beach & was talking to a little girl who said, "is that her?" Chris looked towards the ocean & low & behold, there was LG happily playing in the waves! THANK YOU, GOD! Those were the worst few minutes of my life!

That night, we headed to Louisianna Lagnappe for a delicious meal. MJ enjoyed her ketchup - she is obsessed with ketchup - we put it on her plate & she goes to town! She's our "ketchup girl." This year, instead of Dave being loud, it was Daddy. People at other tables kept starring at our table. I took the kids out to look at the boats & MJ's diaper was so wet, it just dropped onto the dock - hilarious. I picked her & the diaper up & just prayed that she would not tee-tee on my before I could get back to the table & into the bathroom to put a diaper on her. Of course, I had not even brought extra diapers...thankfully, aunt S did!

Monday

The girls were eating Apple Jacks & LG was talking about how delicious they were - hey, it's vacation...sugary cereals, here we come! LG said, "I'm like a vaccum cleaner & she's (MJ) a teensie-weensie pig, just a teensie weensie one."

Tuesday

We enjoyed date night tonight...we sat in the "family" booth that included interrogation lighting. We began to wonder if the AC was working. A & I enjoyed a few "shady ladies." We enjoyed our meal & then headed to Scoops where CW proceeded to buy 6 giant suckers for the kids that came in after us...

Wednesday

Enjoyed more beautiful weather & headed back for nachos that night. We also had our own dance club in the kitchen with the ipod...

Thursday

We celebrated D & C's 43rd anniversary at Ruth's Chris...D gave a fabulous toast - I don't think there was a dry eye! We, of course, went down memory lane & enjoyed another wonderful dinner!

Friday

The guys enjoyed an early round of golf & then we spent the entire day on the beach...does life get any better?

Destin '09...sleeping with our balcony door open listening to the waves, green flag EVERY day, crystal clear water, eating on the balcony, ocean breeze, 803, sand castles, crabs, ipod, dum-dums, coloring, naps, shopping, beuatiful views, golf, cousins...Many thanks to C & D for another great week in Destin!
